Due to the corona virus, the 11th edition of the highly successful series of European Workshops on HPC Infrastructures will be an online event. It will take place from May 18th – 19th 2021.
After having to postpone last year’s event due to the pandemic, we have decided to take the 11th European HPC Infrastructure Workshop online to ensure we can continue this valuable exchange this year. We very much hope that we will be able to return to an in-person event in coming years.
The aim of this series of workshops is to bring together specialists in HPC centre design and operation to discuss the latest trends and technologies for the infrastructure of supercomputing centres. Given that the requirements for HPC centres differ significantly from those of traditional data centres, this workshop provides a unique forum to exchange experiences with other sites that have similar requirements and challenges. This event covers a number of interesting updates from various HPC sites around Europe and beyond, along with discussions on data management and operation, infrastructure technologies and some considerations about fire prevention, IoT and security. One topic that will be covered this year will be on the impact of electrical power swings and harmonics on data center operation and the electrical power grid related to the substantial increase in the power consumption of future exascale systems. Questions such as: “What power upswings of future supercomputers need to be considered on the infrastructure side” will be discussed.
Please view the current agenda here.
The event is virtually collocated with a PRACE Session on Infrastructures on Thursday May 20th, 2021. See https://events.prace-ri.eu/event/1186/ for further information.
The proceedings of previous workshops can be found here: https://prace-ri.eu/infrastructure-support/european-workshops-on-hpc-infrastructures/
Please note, that this is an on-invitation-only event.
Looking forward to welcome you at the workshop!
